Some of you may be thinking that is it possible to connect a soundbar and TV with the same remote? Let me tell you yes, it is possible.
There are two options you can control with either HDMI ARC or Digital Optical Cable.
Most of the companies provide these cables with the device but in case you are missing you can get them from an online store or local market.
You can do it with the help of a Digital Optical Cable or HDMI ARC Cable so later in this post I will show you how you can control both soundbar and TV with the TV Remote.
But before jumping into the article I like to tell you that the process may be different with the different TVs.

Control soundbar with TV Remote In General Devices:
This process is a universal process you can try on any brand of tv.
- First of all, find the port on the devices. Which port your tv and soundbar offer.
- If your devices offer HDMI ARC that’s great but in case these options are not available then you can try Digital Optical Cable.
- Now backside of the devices you get the option to connect both devices with the same HDMI ARC if available but in case you are missing this then you can go with Digital Optical Cables. Make sure one end goes to your TV and the other one goes into your soundbar.
- Simply plug in both devices and turn on the devices.
- Once both devices are connected you hear a default sound into your soundbar.
- Which means all setup is done.
- Now you can control both devices with the same remote.

How to control the soundbar with a TV remote company-wise.
I showed the steps that generally work for all brand soundbars but because you are not able to connect then you can find your soundbar company and follow the given steps.
Samsung
Samsung is a big brand so definitely you get both HDMI ARC and DIGITAL OPTICAL CABLE on the TV and soundbar.
Just plug the cable with both devices. If you are using HDMI ARC then you don’t need to do anything with the setting because it automatically sets up.
You can activate and deactivate by pressing the right arrow on the remote.
But in case you are going with Digital Optical Cable then you have to press the left arrow on the remote to activate Auto Power Link.

Sony
You can connect your tv and soundbar using HDMI ARC or Digital Optical Cable. Installation is not difficult. Simply plug and play.
HDMI ARC works absolutely fine but if you are going with optical cable then you may face some issues like controlling the volume from the remote.
LG
LG devices not only get the option of HDMI ARC and Digital Optical Cable but Bluetooth options also available in the device.
All you have to do is simply turn on the Bluetooth of both devices and go to TV settings and scan for new devices.
Once you find the soundbar tap and then pair. It will work for you.
But if you want to connect with HDMI ARC or Digital Cable then you can follow the above steps because the process is the same for multiple devices.

Panasonic
You don’t get a Bluetooth option in Panasonic devices, hence get two options HDMI and Digital Cable.
Connecting through HDMI simply plug and play but if you connect with Digital Cable then you have to turn off TV sound by going in the settings option and disable the built-in speaker option.
Hisense
Hisense you don’t need to turn off the TV sound in the setting option, just connect with the HDMI ARC and go to settings turn to select the HDMI ARC.
If you are going with Digital Cable then go to settings > sound > advance setting > select “Dolby Digital Out” > Dolby Digital Plus. you are done.
Hitachi
Hitachi doesn’t offer you the Digital Cable option because it has inbuilt Roku TV so you have to go with HDMI ARC only.
Go to TV Setting > Audio > Audio Preferences.

Philips
Philips gives you two options for soundbar 1. HDMI ARC 2. Digital Optic Cable. Choose as per your comfort.
For HDMI ARC connect both devices with the same cable and press ARC in the soundbar remote.
For Digital Optic cable simply plug and play option works.
Yamaha
Two common options are available in Yamaha devices. You can connect with anyone.
For HDMI ARC connect both devices with the same HDMI ARC cable and go to tv setting select CEC for enabling this function
For Digital Optic Cable connect with the same cable to both devices and go to settings to turn on optical output. And after turning it on make sure you disable the TV sound else it won’t work properly.
Bose
Bose supports both options on their devices. The only extra thing you have to do is to download the official app from the app store and install it. It will scan and pair both devices.
Once all the process is done you can use your tv remote to control the soundbar.
The same process will work in HDMI ARC and Digital Optical Cable.
